The Deeplite Mission

For us, it’s about making deep learning real. We’re producing software and technology that enables AI in the things we use everyday. What we develop, what we invent will not just be in the hands of other engineers, it will be in cameras, in robotics, in vehicles - it will generate true change!

A significant challenge with deep learning AI models is how large they are and how processor and power-intensive they can be to operate. For this reason, many AI applications use the cloud rather than running AI locally in the edge devices themselves. This is not feasible, especially in certain applications where reaction times and the possibility of error are critical. Not to mention that cloud processing of a single state-of-the-art neural network can have massive costs and emit as much CO² as five cars in their lifetime!

Current methods to reduce the size of DNNs require expensive deep learning engineers and lots of time using trial and error. Deeplite solves this problem by using a fully automated AI engine, Deeplite Neutrino™, to optimize DNN models, making them smaller, faster and more efficient, allowing them to be deployed to any hardware platform.

Lending tech solutions have become far more intelligent, often using AI and RPA (robotic process automation). The business (AI Foundry) I founded in 2015 and sold to Guaranteed Rate in 2020 is a prime example. I have now joined GoDocs as CEO to help scale this exciting business. GoDocs delivers RPA automation for commercial closings.

Determining my mission at GoDocs was simple as it never changes for me - create a high growth sustainable business that customers love working with, and employees love working for.

General Partner, Seed Stage AI & Robotics @ PJC

Rob is a General Partner at PJC with expertise in the areas of AI, hardware, B2B, and SaaS. Prior to joining PJC, Rob was the co-founder and CEO at Talla, an AI and automation platform, transforming the way businesses deliver customer support.

Rob writes one of the most widely read newsletters on Artificial Intelligence – InsideAI. Rob was named to Boston 40 under 40 in 2013. Rob has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Kentucky.

Venkat Srinivasan

Managing Director @ Innospark Ventures

Dr. Venkat Srinivasan is a serial entrepreneur. and was till recently Founder and CEO of RAGE Frameworks. Venkat has successfully built several knowledge-based technology businesses including eCredit, Corporate Fundamentals and recently Rage Frameworks. Venkat has also founded EnglishHelper, KnowYourMeds and AIinGov all of which are double bottom-line enterprises focused on education, health and the public sector, respectively.

Arun Oberoi

Mr. Arun Oberoi has been an Executive Vice President of Global Sales & Services at Red Hat, Inc. since May 2012. Mr. Oberoi served as the Chief Executive Officer and President at Viridity Software, Inc. since December 2010. Mr. Oberoi is a proven executive with an exceptional blend of strategic and operational management skills. Mr. Oberoi served as the Chief Executive Officer of Aveksa, Inc., since March 2008. Mr. Oberoi was responsible for leading all areas of the business and worked directly with Aveksa's senior management team to implement its worldwide growth strategy.

Chris Hanck

Chief Investment Officer @ Somel Investments Inc.

Christopher Hanck is Chief Investment Officer of Somel Investments which invests in local innovative technology start-ups and is an investor of Boreas Technologies. Chris began his career at Ernst & Young; working in Silicon Valley and helping venture-backed technology clients through the IPO process. He then moved on to financial advisory roles and has extensive experience in M&A, restructuring, and corporate governance.

Nick Romano

Co-Founder, CEO

Nick is a serial entrepreneur delivering successful outcomes through leadership, integrity, innovation, and empowerment for over 20 years.

Prior to Deeplite, Nick was co-founder and CEO of several successful Canadian tech companies, including Messagepoint, Prinova Software and Prinova Technologies. Nick earned his Bachelor of Engineering and Management in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and was recently honored by McMaster’s Engineering Faculty as one of their Top 150 Distinguished Alumni for their role in shaping Canada and the world.

Ehsan Saboori, PhD

Co-Founder, CTO

Ehsan is a passionate entrepreneur and technologist whose research formed the technology vision that is the core of Deeplite. A published Ph.D., he combines years of industry experience, a strong team and cutting-edge research to create lightweight intelligence.
